This small web site is intended to give an introduction to my interests and history, as well as present my qualifications, to those who are interested in researching my background. To that end, copies of many of my certificates, as well as my formal CV are contained within the Certificates & CV section of this site. Please also see the link above and following to my dance school in Spain, (Valerie Jean Dance School), whose site happens to have many pictures of myself and my dancing friends, as well as videos of past performances showing me performing on them.
I am a German national, but have an English Father and German Mother. They have always rasied me by speaking their native tongues to me, subsequently I have been bi-lingual since my earliest memories. We moved from Germany to Spain when I was 8, so I have also grown up in the Spanish culture and using the Spanish language since then. Frequent visits to relations in both Germany and England have ensured that I remain fully aware and part of those cultures also however.
Sport has been an integral and major part of my life ever since I was a few year old. I have always been keen to practice different sports and dance, learn new rules, skills and work with different people as a team. I aim to always do my best and progress to excellence with hard work. I have participated in a wide variety of different activities giving me insight on how diverse the exercise world can be.
When I was younger I participated in sports such as horse riding, tang soo do (martial art to yellow belt), skiing, tennis and swimming, most of which I still happily take part in. I also was a team member of a county level volleyball team while at school competing in Spain against other city and county level teams, a sport which I have continued since starting University, playing for my University team, whilst adding extreme frisbee as a new sport to my experiences, together with my first parachute jump! Bicycling every day to and from my University in Cambridge also contributes to my overall fitness.
I also have danced my entire life, (including performances for the public for the last 9 years with my dance school in theatres and the local Javea international festival, - to an audience of thousands), with many hours of practice leading to events on a frequent basis. In dance I currently have grades of; jazz: grade IV, Tap: grade IV and ballet: grade intermediate. I also hold LAMDA grade 5 in speech and verse. I still aim to take more grade exams in the coming years. To boster confidence in public appearing as well as to assist in make-up skills, I also took a modelling course (live, catwalk and photo), while still in Spain.
My Family are all scuba divers, with my Father being an Instructor/Master Diver level in PADI and BSAC. I therefore started diving at age twelve and am currently an Advanced Open Water & Dive Medic PADI diver, I plan on taking Rescue Diver certification in 2012. With this course I also gained a CPR and First Aid certificate which is current. I have had the pleasure of diving in some of the Worlds most beautiful locations and hope to expand upon this list of locations.
I decided some time ago that I wished to make sports a career, and as a step towards that goal attended and qualified in a 6 week intense personal trainer course with the European Fitness Institute to become personal trainer at EREPS level 3 (NVQ3) in 2010. this has lead to me being registered with EREPS/EHFA as an officially certified Personal Trainer and going onto their registered database. Knowing now some of what is needed I am determined to keep going with this career path and understand that my current degree program offers a marvelous opportunity to continue my education in the science and practice of my chosen career.
As said, I am Tri-Lingual, (English, German and Spanish) and have always been interested in other cultures. I feel that I am able to empathize and integrate within many different communities. I’m certain that this multi-cultural background and language skills will be very beneficial in my life and work, as I will meet many different nationalities and it will be an advantage for me to be able to communicate with and understand them.
